If you were paying attention yesterday, even barely paying attention, you had to hear about Apple, Inc. (no longer Apple Computer, Inc.) and their introduction of the iphone. If you had your head in the clouds or alternatively, in the sand, just head over to apple dot com and take a look at the singular (cingular) greatest new product in years. Apple will come to dominate the cell phone market with this device. Part ipod, part phone and part computer (actually running OSX, desktop apps, widgets, safari, and more). The UI (user interface) of this small device is nothing short of incredible - sorry to use that much over-used word, but in this case it fits. Listen up today, you will hear people everywhere talking about iphones.
I have to get going earlier than normal this morning. I want to get into the office early enough that I can record some audio for a new training offering. We are using a program called Captivate to create software simulations. It has a not so steep learning curve and a lot of powerful features. I am pretty excited about learning and using it to full advantage.
I am listening to the Beatles - All you need is love - right now, my itunes playlist is playing songs that start with the letter A. It is a real shuffle, I never know what is coming next. I could look but that would defeat the purpose. I feel like everything I am talking about this morning is computer and software related. Sorry.
My Rolleiflex pictures came out sadder than I expected. I think the camera needs a CLA - that is clean, lube and adjust. The pictures that I took outside came out pretty good, but the indoor shots suffer from underexposure, poor focus, and granininess. I was using ASA 400 film and there should be no underexposure. My light meter is almost as old as the camera so it may be suspect as well. The focus issue can be attributed to the darkness of the focusing glass in a dimly lit area. It is easy to focus outside in the sun. I don't want to give up on the camera but it is got me thinking that way. I want to run some experiments using the Rollei with my modern Nikon electronic flash. I have a sync cord and a grip with a shoe, so that comes next. I will get back with the results.
We are still aglow with memories of San Miguel. I was looking through Ride Texas magazine and they published a link to a movie of the independence day celebration in San Miguel. Turns out they went down there in September and did an ariticle on touring Mexico. The movie was ok, nothing great, but illustrated the reticular activating system concept. No, I'm not going to explain it here.
They are predicting freezing rain for the Austin area by the end of the week. We don't really like freezing rain around here. It leads to broken tree limbs and wires on the ground. When you live out in the country, and we barely do, a loss of power equates to no water, no heat, and no fun. So, I am looking for snow but not freezing rain. I will be back to RiverDogs with an update on everything no later than this weekend. You see I have a laptop and I can still communicate even with no power - for four hours anyway. Hey, have a great week; RD out for now.
