The What, the When, and the Why Not?
It has been a cold, shivering week with temps hanging 15-20 degrees
below the norm. The sun was here last Sunday and warmed us to 65 during
the football championships. The weather forecast for today sounds more
normal - sunny again with a high near 60.
We got confirmation from our vet last week that RiverDog Sydney does
indeed have Cushings disease. And if we thought it was tough to
diagnose, it is even tougher to treat. If you go to far in either
treatment scenario you can cause other bad things to happen. Her
quality of life is pretty good with the medication that she is getting
so we are going to hold the line on anything more drastic for now.
Mortality is the fate of us all; so why not make the most of the days
you have - don't dwell on the negative.
My father-in-law is on the motorcycle trip of a lifetime. He left for
Santiago, Chile about ten days ago and is riding from there to Tiera
del Fuego, which I think is about as far south in Argentina as you can
go without freezing to death in the snowy, frozen glaciers of
Antarctica. We have heard from him twice, and while he is enjoying the
ride, he is very tired at the end of the day. I bet. The ride is 40% on
paved roads and the rest on unpaved roads, trails, etc. The group
inludes about 10 riders; some are from the US, Mexico, and South
America. The trip is five weeks total so it will be mid February or
later before he returns with all the pictures and stories.
Hey, the clock on the wall is ticking away and we must get moving. I
will be back later this week with some news on the newest music and
some results from my Rolleiflex experiments. RiverDogs out.
