Happy Birthday Ella - which was really two days ago but when you are two it is OK to hold off the party till the weekend. She is one really cool two year old - a happy, smiling, dancing delight. She brings much happiness wherever she goes. What a great kid!

I am listening to the new CD from a band we heard yesterday at Gruero's during a non=SXSW event. The band is called Crawling with Kings and has a strong Wilco/Calexico feel to their music. So I guess you already know how I feel about what I am hearing. (If you are not familiar with my music likes/dislikes, just let me say that Wilco is the best band in the world - Calexico is pretty great too.) So I like this band quite a bit. We were just passing by Gueros on the way to the Yard Dog Gallery for their Bloodshot records party. We heard part of the sound check and sat down for the whole show. Both Kath and I like them a ton and bought their record.

I took the day off and got some things done around the house in the AM. Kathy finished up her day on the way downtown and we had a great time listening to music, watching the out of town visitors and basically just hanging loose. The biggest music of the day was from the Waco Brothers at the Bloodshot party. Wow, can those guys make music. They are one of Kath's favorite bands and she loved it. You cannot beat Austin for great music during SXSW week.

We got a phone message from Bella when we got back to the house last night. She was calling to thank us for the guitar that we sent to her last week. This is a belated Christmas present. When they were here last month we took her to the store to make sure that we were picking a guitar that she could handle. We weren't really sure that she wanted a guitar till she got back to Syracuse and called a week later asking where her guitar was. Now she knows.

It is Saturday. The sun is going to shine and music will be part of our day. But first we are off to the 2nd birthday celebration for Ella. The maybe to Love on the Lawn or to the new venue in Manor to hear Idgy Vaughn - Kristin pointed us her way and I am anxious to see and hear her in person. She sounds great on her MySpace website. Love on the Lawn features Suzanna Choffel and Guy Forsyth so that has a lot of promise also.

RiverDogs are crying to get out and take their morning stroll so I gotta go. RD out for now.
