I finally broke through the "what is stopping me barrier" two weeks ago and bought an ipod. For three years I had been telling myself that even though I wanted one, I had  my CDs and I had music on my computer, and I had my shuffle (for almost two years anyway). So what would having an ipod do for me. I was prowling the aisles at Costco and noticed that they had the 80GB version in stock. Decision made. And, unlike some things, there was not a moment of buyer's remorse. Not a millisecond. For me and I guess for over 100 million other people, the ipod is a great way to put your music on a mobile device and take it with you. I have been loading songs at the rate of three albums a week and have nearly 1600 songs on it right now. Also two movies and some photos. All of that and I still have 60GB of space left -  that's another 10,000 songs, and maybe 10 more movies or 10,000 pictures.

Another way to look at it is that I have enough hard drive space to put the entire Leander library on my ipod. I'd rather listen to Lucinda Williams singing "the night's too long" from her 1988 release called "lucinda williams."

My trip home from Toronto last Friday had an unexpected and unwelcome turn when a tornado in the Dallas area forced delays and cancelations all over the map. I was one of hundreds stranded at DFW and got to spend the night on the floor in terminal D. Let me tell you that searching for a restaurant at 10:30 PM at DFW is a challenge. Finally I found that TGIF was still open in terminal C and that was where I found some dinner. I managed about two hours sleep through the night and got the first flight to Austin the next morning at 8 AM. That involved a phone call to the AA rep at 4:30 AM to get one of the two remaining seats on that flight. The rest of the weekend was a tired blur.

This weekend will be better with a little time away in the wilds near San Saba. I will be back on Sunday or Monday to tell you all about it. For now, RD out.
