Physicists create antimatter [CNET News.com]

This is crazy sounding but kind of an interesting article. I never thought "antimatter" was a real thing.  6:54:21 PM  permalink

So my dad and Dan just left to go back to Worcester and Maine. Dad is driving Dan to Worcester first (because Dan's car is still broken!) and then Dad is driving himself up to Maine for his meeting(s) tomorrow for work. Then he's flying home from there.

We all went to brunch today at Gourmeli's, which is the restaurant in the Marriott Copley Place. Rob and I had scoped it out yesterday. It has a buffet brunch which is pretty good. They have a good selection of food and a chef who will cook an omelet to order for you. Plus it's a good location. So we had a good brunch with all of us (me, Rob, Dan and Dad)... Dad especially taking full advantage of the "all you can eat" aspect of a buffet.

By the time we were done it was 1:30 or so. Rob left because he had to go do work at BAMHA and wanted to get several hours of work in, but not be out till late tonight. The rest of us were deciding between doing a Duck Tour, which we've never done, or going to the JFK Museum, a suggestion of Princess Danielle's from when I was talking to her at her place last night. We decided at first to take the Duck Tour, especially since it was such a nice day, but it turned out that there were so many people already signed up that we would not have been able to start our tour until 5:00pm. So we ditched that idea and headed to the JFK Library and Museum. Oh, but not before we stopped at Walgreen's so Dad could buy a new pair of drugstore sunglasses since he had broken his latest pair the other day.

So we took the T out to the JFK stop and then took the free shuttle bus to the museum. It was around 3:45 when we got there and it was only open till 5 so we didn't have a ton of time, but it was still good. First of all, it's way out on the point so it's right out in the water and has great views. I'm lame for never seeing the ocean since I live in a city that's right on the coast. Anyway, it turns out the building was designed by I.M. Pei, which I didn't realize, which is pretty cool.

So there was an introductory movie about his life leading up to and including a bit from the 1960 Democratic Convention. Then there are a lot of film clips and photos and letters throughout the rest of the museum. The one thing we missed that I would have liked to have seen was a short movie they have about the Cuban Missile Crisis. Anyway, then of course the end is kind of depressing because it's about his assassination. But then it's kind of cool because they have all these inspiring quotes up and footage of Robert Kennedy and Ted Kennedy and others talking about him, etc. including a little clip from President Clinton about when he met him and what he thinks about him. My dad commented that if Robert Kennedy hadn't been shot Nixon probably wouldn't have won the election in 1968. What a different history our country might have had.

Anyway, now I'm at home with Billy and though he was content to lie around at first he now wants to go out so I have to finish this post for now.

Thanks for visiting Dad and Dan! I hope you have a good trip back.  6:49:23 PM  permalink
