Welcome to my page... where I'm always right and no one can argue with me.

Wow, too bad I stink and didn't post all weekend. Sorry, I was pretty busy. We got a lot of stuff done over the weekend - both work stuff and fun stuff.

Friday I had fun at Shannon's but I got in trouble because I left Rob sitting at home too long. I was supposed to leave at a decent hour so we could go to a late movie maybe but I stayed too long. Sorry Rob Reed.

Saturday we saw Red Dragon. It wasn't perfect but it was pretty good. Pretty creepy. Kind of predictable, but still a fun movie to see. We also took Billy for a walk in the evening. He wore himself out, poor guy; dragging us around like a nut and rolling in the grass, eating the grass, etc.

We went to dinner at this random restaurant out in Burlington called "Victoria Station" which is made of (real or not) a bunch of old train cars all lined up together and connected. It was a pretty good steak place. I think we did about one load of laundry on Saturday but we mostly did fun stuff that day.

Sunday we went and got an early breakfast then washed the car inside and out. We have been good lately and have been doing that ourselves instead of paying a car wash to do it. If we keep up with it, it doesn't get that dirty and it's easy to clean. The car is only 3 years old and it looks pretty good, but it's got 70,000 miles on it. Poor car! We went to the grocery store before we cleaned the car, so then when we were done we came home and made our lunch. Actually, I made it - great big sandwiches on fresh baked french baguette we bought at the store. It was great. Then we spent the afternoon cleaning and doing laundry and stuff. For dinner we ate pasta with chicken.

Somehow we screwed up and let ourselves get parked in again by Nima and Shireen (I misspelled her name before... sorry...) even though we knew Rob had to go to work really early today (Monday). We realized this at like 1am. The problem was, we were pretty sure they were up because their lights were on and we heard either their voices or the t.v. But we were afraid to bother them at 1am because who knows if they're actually sleeping (or worse!) or if they'd just think we're crazy, etc. So I knocked on their door a couple times, but not very loud because I didn't want to scare them awake if they were sleeping, but no answer. So in the end we just went to bed and then had to wake them up at 6:30 to move their car. Nima seemed really out of it or else mad when he came out to move the car... but I saw him tonight and he seemed fine so I guess he doesn't hold a grudge. I felt bad anyway. Tonight we are parked outside so we won't be stuck in the morning.

I was pretty mad today when I found out that this was going on yesterday. We didn't go to the one in the spring because the weather was awful. Maybe they will do it one more time before the bridge is open to traffic. Also, today I saw a crazy person holding a sign downtown that said "Jesus is coming back to kill everyone except born-again Christians." Nice. I wanted to shake him or something. What does he think he is accomplishing? Does he just want to threaten people? Or make them think he's crazy? Just ridiculous.

Rob and I saw this cool looking pre-fab house thing in the magazine Dwell over the weekend, but then we couldn't find it on the web. Then, I saved the day (well, not really). Someone at my office had posted an article from the NY Times 9/26 issue which included info about that company and several other architects who are exploring the idea of making really cool modern, high-quality pre-fab houses. Here are some of them:

Anderson Anderson Architects

Oskar Kaufmann

Rocio Romero

Syndesis

The article, which I can't post here because it's old enough that the Times considers it an archive and you can't view it without paying money, also mentions that both IKEA and Target are considering making pre-fab houses available through them in the US. Apparently IKEA has already sold/shipped 1,100 units of a prototype in Europe. Pretty cool stuff.

Lucky us, the dog wants to go out. So I guess this is it for now.  9:21:30 PM  permalink
