Today was a slow day at work. It would have been fine except I was stupid and forgot about some color copies I needed to make to send out tonight... forgot till right when I was about to walk out the door... so then I had to hang out for like 45 minutes making the copies and sending them out FedEx. Duh, Jenn.

Anyway, Rob took the car in to the dealership for 70K service and to get a new oil pan put in today. That's a long story but basically Jiffy Lube sucks is the moral of the story.

So anyway, because he had dropped off the car he took the train into town and we met for lunch. Nothing exciting, but it was fun to see him at lunch time. It would be nice if he got a job downtown and we could meet in the city more during the day for lunch, to run errands, etc. That would be pretty cool. Of course, the economy sucks.

So but then I get home, late, and Rob's in an awful mood because he's all freaked out about his job and stuff. He'd been working on this email for forever for work (for his second job) and he just couldn't finish it and it was driving him nuts. Then he was all freaked out and worried about money, etc. I feel bad for him that he gets so worried but after a while of him being in a mood I just end up getting pissed at him. So I just tried to go about my business and not pay too much attention. Eventually he kind of calmed down but he did not have a good night.

I called my parents on my way to the train after work to tell them about how well my review went and I got their answering machine. They called back while I was making dinner and I didn't answer because I was too far from the phone, so they left me this crazy message because first my dad was leaving me some dorky message about how I shouldn't call them back too late because they "turn into pumpkins". Then my mom picked up the phone and didn't know my dad was leaving a message, actually thought he was talking to me - so she starts talking like I'm on the phone, then they start talking to each other, etc... it was really dorky. A classic Phylbert moment. (Phylbert = Phyllis + Robert.)

Anyway, I guess it's time for bed. Rob and the dog are already asleep. I just wanted to post here before I turned in. Good night.  11:58:27 PM  permalink

Well, it's technically Monday morning but still counts as Sunday night because I haven't gone to sleep yet. I had a great review on Friday, here is the whole story:

My Review Goes Fantastically Well

So Saturday we were supposed to go to IKEA but we didn't do too well with that. I was still pretty sick and tired and we slept in. Then we decided well, there is a lot of stuff we should try to get done before we go to IKEA anyway, and for one thing, we barely even had clean clothes to wear that day so we knew we had to do laundry. We also wanted to try to replace some bulbs - some of our taillights are out. Not the regular taillights but the part that comes on when you brake. The center light in the rear windshield works, but not the sidelights. Well, because we slept in and got a late start we didn't get a whole lot done, but we did go to Brighton where Rob had to do some work at his second job and while he was there I went to the laundromat for 3 hours and got everything washed and dried.

But by then it was late. We went to the grocery store just to get a couple things we needed to make dinner. Then we went home, cooked dinner and went to bed but it was really late by that point. So we went to bed.

We were still planning to go to IKEA the next day (Sunday) instead, but we'd have to get an early start because it's a 5-hour drive and IKEA closes earlier on Sunday (6pm) than on Saturday (9pm). However, we were so tired from being up so late that we slept till past 10 so there was no chance of it happening today either. So, sorry to all those I was supposed to pick stuff up for! But because some of the things we want are too large to fit in our car anyway, we will at least be ordering some things to be shipped even if we don't make it down there, so we'll combine orders so Sara and Shannon can still get the stuff they wanted, hopefully.

In any case, this upcoming Saturday we can't go because I am going to the set up for CANstruction for my firm that day for the morning and early afternoon, and that evening going to a Halloween party. We might go Sunday, but only if we can get an early start. Probably the next weekend we are going to try to go out of town for the weekend just for fun because our last fun vacation was in January! So we will have to start planning that. I'm not sure yet where we'll go.

Today we didn't leave the house till almost 1. Then we wanted to go over to take a few pictures of the Head of the Charles because it was a really nice day. Well, we did it in a very stupid way. The regatta takes place on the Charles River, which isn't that far from us and we can walk to the part of Cambridge closest to us where the river is in under a half hour, but the regatta takes place much farther west so we ended up literally walking for hours, and by the time we got down to the area where it was happening, it was over. We really screwed that one up. But at least we got some exercise in! And we did get a lot of pictures of the city and water and sailboats, etc. Hopefully some of them will turn out really well.

Tomorrow and Tuesday at work all the principals (partners) will be at a retreat downtown somewhere for management stuff, so it will be quiet in the office. I'm having lunch tomorrow with Amy so that will be fun.

Anyway, if we want any chance of getting up at a decent time tomorrow, we need to go to sleep. Goodnight.  1:26:16 AM  permalink
