Ha ha... well, amusingly enough, I didn't read that list of marriage laws by state too thoroughly because before I made fun of Kansas I should have read that Massachusetts has the same minimum age requirements for marriage with parental consent... 14 for boys and 12 for girls. Um, I think it might be time to change that, folks. Just maybe.

The youngest that anyone can get married without parental consent is in Mississippi - guys at 17, girls at 15. That is really unfortunate. And finally, I have to add that for anyone who makes "West Virginia" or hillbilly jokes about people getting married when they're too young, you'd better read up on your own state before you do any more of that. Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky have some of the highest minimum age requirements for marriage in the country.  8:43:09 PM  permalink

Here is the answer to our discussion about whether or not Heather and Rob were ever married by common law in Massachusetts:

Common Law Marriage - Where the parties agree to become husband and wife, contemplate a permanent marital relationship, and openly cohabitate as husband and wife. While Massachusetts will recognize a valid common law marriage from another state, it will not recognize a common law marriage entered into in Massachusetts.

Go here to find out about where common-law marriage is and is not recognized. Hey, according to this, Heather is practically an old maid in Kansas! Minimum age for marriage there (with parental consent, of course) = boys: 14, girls: 12. NICE.

OK, I have so many issues with Smallville tonight. First of all, Jonathan Taylor Thomas = not allowed. Secondly, they've just about given up even explaining people's special weird mutant abilities, etc. They never tell us why this guy can clone himself instantly out of his back whenever he wants to. Also, they never tell us what happens to him after he tries to throw Lana and Chloe over the dam. They usually at least try to wrap it up by having Clark make some comment about how so-and-so will be locked up or he wonders how long so-and-so will be in the asylum, whatever. It's crazy. No explanation of that, just some weird fake half-fight with Clark and the 2 girls who want his body. Also, then he gets a creepy smile on his face at the end after basically all 3 of them yell at each other. What does that mean? He's into being liked by both of them? He's a jerk? He's a weirdo? They made up now, in his mind? I'm really confused. I think Heather will have to explain it to me.  12:36:54 AM  permalink

Technically, it's late Tuesday night.

Today has been OK. I got to start cleaning up my desk a bit because it was quiet. This is good because I'm starting to lose stuff because I'm so disorganized. I had about 25 tiny post-it's all piled on top of each other on the desk surface right in front of where I sit. Scary.

I realized that maybe everyone doesn't want to read what I eat every day. So here is a link if you do.
