Here is the winning design for the new complex at ground zero in NYC. I haven't read that much about it yet, so I don't know that much about the design. Here's another link, but you need to be a member of the website to read the whole story. Sorry. It doesn't cost anything so if you want to sign up then you can read the NY Times online. Anyway. I just thought it was interesting. What do people think about the design? There was a big uproar in the design community (architects, etc.) about not just the designs that were submitted but also the Port Authority's selection process. People wanted a really grand statement, or a collaboration of a lot of great contemporary architects. It sounds like they just picked a firm to do everything. We'll see.
Oh, and
here's something I forgot to complain about earlier. The T sucks. Buses are awful, and an
entirely different issue, but now that we moved I only have to deal with
trains. But even these suck! Every week there is at least one delay that I
run into during rush-hour because of a "disabled train". Jesus, maybe it's
time for some new trains! No wait, that won't work either because they
did buy new trains for the green line, but they can't use
them because their tracks are too old and crappy, so now they have to
replace all the tracks! Are you kidding me? Who's in charge of this
organization? This morning I was 25 minutes late to work because of this.
I'll tell you what the problem is. The state is spending billions of
dollars on the Big Dig, which should
really have been spent on the public transportation system and encouraging
people not to bring their stinky cars into the city, not
making it easier for them to. I'm not sure where he got his info (though
I'm sure it's easy enough to look up) but the other day Rob told me he heard
that the original budget for the Big Dig was $2 billion and now it is
$14 billion! What? That's complete insanity.

Ugh. People make me so goddamn mad. Look at this story, which Heather also
posted on her site: California Condor Killed by Poacher. Please notice that the stupid ass who
shot it apparently didn't even take the body and do anything with it. It
sounds like they just found it dead in the wild somewhere. That's it. I'm
going in with Rob on his idea about Asshole Police. I agree, there should
be a new police force, the Asshole Police, and they should go around
executing assholes. This guy who shot the bird, for example, he would be a
good candidate. If there is some alien race watching us out there,
wondering when the time is right to swoop in and kill all the humans to save
the planet, I think the time is now. Please hurry.

Oh, I forgot to mention this - has anyone seen this site? If it's true, then this really worked for her... plus there are other sites out there doing the same thing. Hmmm. Maybe it is socialism in action. Or communism. Or something. It might be a pyramid scheme. Should I put up a "Save Jenn" site? Goodnight.

Well I'm very annoyed with myself. I'm up too late as usual. I wish my day could start at 10am and end at midnight instead of starting at 7am and ending at 1AM. The latter doesn't work that well for me.
Anyway, I just wanted to make a couple of changes to the navigator links to the right, so I'm doing that now then going to bed.
In the morning we're taking the car to a Meineke to get a new "skid plate" put on. We bought the skid plate from the dealership tonight - they don't have an appointment before the weekend, and that's when we're delivering the car to Rob's mom. Apparently, all the skid plate is, is a piece of plastic that protects the underside of the engine, etc. I guess if we weren't car idiots it would be pretty easy for us to replace it ourselves. Oh, well. Soon no more car for us anyway. I once reattached an exhaust pipe on an old pickup with a random bolt I found in the bed of the truck. That makes me cool, right?
