So what happened was that when Rob started to set up his mom's computer he ran into a bug that meant it basically couldn't dial up using the modem (we didn't notice at home because we have broadband). It meant he was working on just that till about 2 am, then had to spend a little while longer doing the rest of the stuff he wanted to do like setting up her printer and scanner. It was crazy. His mom and I were trying to stay up too to keep him company but we were out of it.
Anyway, it sucked that it turned out to be such a pain. By the time he was all done, I couldn't face driving home yet so we went to bed for a few hours. By the time we got up and left in the morning it was 10 am and we got home around 4pm. Poor Jim (Rob's brother) had to come by and break all the bolts to get the rear plate off our car because they were crazy rusted. I think I'm still recovering. I'm so tired.
Anyway, tonight I was reminded of the fuss over the pledge of allegiance and I don't remember if I had anything to say on here about that before or not. But anyway, this is what I have to say:
1. It is not OK that anyone has to say the Pledge of Allegiance in school - it's creepy and reminds me of Hitler.
2. It is doubly not OK to force kids to say the pledge when it includes the words one nation under God. The reason is a little something called the separation of church and state. You can't force kids to pledge anything to the country or God! Wake up!
3. Besides, does anyone pay attention? I mean, does anyone understand any judicial or legal decision that's made anymore? Or do they just listen to whatever TV and Jerry Fallwell tells them and go from there? It's so upsetting.
Kidz Bop needs to be stopped. Really.
And lastly, I purposely ignore a lot of the things going on in the world because I find them too upsetting and frustrating, but I just recently realized that not only does Bush want to go to war with Iraq, but he wants to invade and occupy the country. Holy crap, what's going on? What year is it? Did this guy grow up in the same country I did? Seriously, something needs to happen.
