Here is my dad at the July 4th weekend picnic at my Uncle Will and Aunt Jeanette's place in Farmington, CT. He's showing off his empty Corona bottle. While we're on the subject, ask him what Dos Equis means in Spanish.

I want to tell everyone about this really cool product. Check out the website. It's modular flooring. Kind of a really industrial-wear carpet type thing. It comes in squares that you can lay down easily yourself and move, rearrange, bring with you if you move, etc. Rob and I are obsessed with this stuff. We saw it in Metropolis magazine and looked it up. Now we just need money and an apartment with straight, even floors. But for what it is, it isn't that expensive. If anyone steals our idea and uses it, let me know how it goes.
So we have been watching the Tour de France. But don't tell me anything
because we are several stages behind being live, since there is so much
coverage and we have it all Tivo'd. We have to catch up, but for now we've
only watched coverage through Stage 9 I think. Anyway, it is crazy. I
can't really say anything about it either because Heather is watching what
we record and we need to send her more DVDs, so she's even farther behind
than we are. But anyway, I can't believe these guys can ride uphill in
crazy mountains for like 38 km (almost 24 miles). I mean, if you've ever
ridden a bike up a hill, just think about how crazy that is. I know I'm
wicked out of shape, but even so... I make it up a hill every now and again.
However, the idea of riding uphill, and really steeply, for 24 miles is
ridiculous. Apparently people say things like that cycling isn't a "real
sport" because you're "sitting down". Rob always mentions this and gets
upset. I have to agree that is a very stupid comment. I haven't seen
another sport where people do anything as crazy as the Tour de France. I
think cycling is probably the best sport there is. A marathon is nothing
compared to this. They ride thousands of miles for weeks and weeks, every
day without break. Anyway, hats off to these guys.
