(This post was after midnight so it shows up as Thursday, but I'm talking about what we did on Wednesday.)
Oops, sorry for so many days in a row of not posting. I was doing really well for a while! Well, last weekend was pretty busy mostly just doing chore-type stuff. I'm taking Wednesday through Friday off this week, and we were trying to get lots of stuff done before my days off. We didn't get the house as clean as we wanted, but we didn't do too bad.
Anyway, Dan came out to Boston last night and this morning we drove up to Monadnock State Park and hiked the White Dot Trail up to the summit and then the White Cross Trail back down, on the recommendation of the guide (or ranger, I'm not sure what her actual job was) who greeted us at the entrance. She said coming down the White Cross Trail was easier on the legs. Anyway, it was a pretty good hike. Pretty challenging but not awful. Mostly just challenging because it was really rocky and because I'm in awful shape. But fun. When we got to the top we were rewarded by an awesome view and a nice strong breeze that started to chill me a little by the time we left. We ate our lunch up there - turkey sandwiches and apples... and then headed back down. Fun day, but tiring. We didn't have enough water really. We had 1 regular-sized bike water bottle and one that was about 1/3 bigger. So we learned our leson for next time.
On our way back home we were really starving and passed a Pizza Hut so we ate there because it's one of the places we can't go except when we have a car. (Surprise, no Pizza Huts in the city of Boston.) I know it's not very high-class, but it's good stuff. Of course, as is typical for us, we left behind the extra pizza in the box the server gave us on the table. Oops.
Tomorrow I feel like just sitting in A/C all day but we'll see what happens. It's very nice to have the time off from work. Because I was clever and took these particular days, I get 6 days off but only have to "spend" 3 days because I have the weekend in there and Labor Day on Monday.
Anyway, now we are at home and have been swapping taking turns playing The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker. Dan and Rob each took a shower, now it's my turn! Hallelujah! Goodnight.
