I need to talk about something that has been driving me insane every winter since moving to Boston: the phenomenon of people putting things like garbage cans, lawn chairs, traffic cones and similar bizarre items in the street to save their parking spaces. This happens anytime it snows and people have to shovel their cars out. I assume the logic is that they did the work of shoveling the car out, so now they are "entitled" to the parking space. I think this is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard of. No one has a right to save a space on a public street for their car. Everyone is equally out of luck when they come home at 11pm and have to cruise around the neighborhood trying to find a space within 3 blocks of their apartment. I have a huge problem with this and I think that anyone who doesn't is a little bit insane.
