Holy shit. Ed Cone is reporting that Tara Grubb, the first candidate to run a campaign direct to the people via the Internet, is getting double digits (with 27% of districts reporting). If she only had some money there would have been a chance to... I personally donated $20, but I am sure not many other people did (she was too much of a longshot). This is very encouraging. Being directly connected matters.
Here is Slate's handicap on Wired candidates and how to tell whether being online matters. We can already see from Tara's early numbers that it DOES. [John Robb's Radio Weblog]

As part of Universal Access in Jaguar is the great new Zoom capability.Because
all drawing in Mac OS X is based on a compositing graphics system, you can magnify
the screen with great performance (especially on Quartz Extreme compatible systems)
that also works with all media types and applications. What does that mean?
Well, you can magnify the screen while animation, digital video and even DVD
is playing on your screen. This is another stunning example of how the Mac is
leveraging some of the incredible technology underpinnings found in Mac OS X.

The Republican and the Democrat
Side by side at the debate sat.
'Twas November 5 and what do you think,
Both called the other the bigger fink.
The pundit and the talking head
Told us what we had to dread.
(I wasn't there, I simply said
What was told to me by the talking head.)
The Republican said "He'll tax and spend"
The Democrat replied "He's Enron's friend."
The air was littered, an hour or so,
With innuendo and the odd low blow.
The pundit claimed they were both wrongdoers
Since he secretly knew this brought in viewers.
(Now mind, I'm only telling you,
What the pundit declared to me as true.)
Don't forget to vote!

City streets aren't safe to walk on.
Cars are being stolen at a rapid clip.
Homes are burglarized.
The air around us is poisoned.
But thanks to advertising, our underarms are fully protected.
