American City Business Journals - RadioShack ends asking for customer info.

"Customers tell us the practice of asking them for names and addresses is time consuming and annoying and is not something that endears them to us," Leonard Roberts, chairman and CEO of Fort Worth-based RadioShack, said in a statement. "Asking for names and addresses was a barrier to building superior customer relationships."

Before its 1963 acquisition by Tandy Corp., RadioShack was collecting customer names and addresses as a way to manage its mail-order catalog business.

As the store chain grew, RadioShack used the data to help customers document product purchase records for returns, exchanges and warranty service, as well as send the in-home flyer to customers who requested advance notification of new products, sales and promotions.

There are lots of great things to say about font support in Mac OS X and Jaguar specifically. I think I'll dedicate this week of posts to everything related to fonts, fonts and more fonts.

First up on the font installation front - folders of fonts! Instead of being forced to have all of your font files located directly in your fonts folder, you can now group and organize your fonts in folders.

A New Kind Of Productivity Application : For years, we've let office productivity applications define "productivity," yet Apple knows that the new frontier of productivity is not a new spreadsheet, word processor, or email client, but rather, tools for managing a consumer's growing array of digital assets: photos, music, and videos.
