What can any of us offer but respectful silence?
Maybe only this from Howard Rosenberg of the Los Angeles Times: "As Kevin Merida wrote in the Washington Post a few years ago, public death is 'one of the binding American experiences, giving strangers something to talk about in a culture in which individuals are increasingly distanced.' If so, consider yourself bound....even in an age of technology, the human element still matters."
