The Navy Painter. I just love the blogosphere. Gordon Coale, who also runs an excellent weblog, left the following comment regarding my 'Submarines in art' entry: ...the image you used was drawn by my grandfather, Griffith Baily Coale. He was instrumental in starting the Navy's combat artist program. I have a site on him that has examples of his other work for the Navy as well as his amazing writings about his experiences and travels while in the Navy.
