Blogs and Education

A couple of notes from John Robb's blog concerning efforts to place Manila in higher ed architecture moves me to believe a community could develop to :

  1. Chronicle efforts - especially reports on systematic or comparative research
  2. Document how blog tools are integrated with more complex CMS systems
  3. Document cost savings and productivity gains
  4. Document extending these services to everyone -- staff, students, faculaty and administration.

A series of comments attached to these notes indicates I share the same questions as a couple of others.

I see immediate utility at both the administrative and instructional levels.  Administratively, we share a need for newsfeeds for pieces about our institutions and the system as a whole.  We also need to share knowledge among CIOs and IT directors.  A site similar to Phil Windley's would fit well.  Opportunities at the instructional level are too numerous to mention here.

So, I'll put up a category and hope to find others willing to share as well.
