Apple's Stickiest Marketing Ploy. One of Apple's greatest -- and no doubt cheapest -- marketing coups is handing out decals of the company's logo, which proud users slap on everything from cars to skateboards to Windows computers. By Leander Kahney. [Wired News]

I bought a Quadra 660AV in the early 90's, a sweet, little, pizza-box shaped CPU with a lovely 17" monitor, which seemed huge at the time.  The first thing I did was put one of the rainbow-colored Apple stickers on the back window of my car.  My dad asked me if it meant I was gay (due to the rainbow colors).

Then one day, while my car was in the parking garage at work, some jerk took a key or something and scratched the crap out of it.  I never knew a simple Apple sticker could invoke so much animosity.

A surfeit of rights - Howdy friends and neighbors.  Does it seem like people these days have too many rights?  Well then read this and see if that warms the cockles of your heart. [ernie/the/attorney]

The Bill of No Rights.  Written by a local State representative, strangely enough.

Chandler Not Outlook Killer, After All?. I've already seen the propensity of the media to position OSAF's project as, "an Outlook Killer" (Slashdot). CNET's story yesterday... [Mitch Kapor's Weblog]

My favorite quote: "We're trying to be faithful to the original spirit of the personal computer -- empowerment through decentralization."

In out mad rush to re-centralize everything by pushing application logic off of the desktop and on to the web server/app server, this is one thing that we forgot.  With modern microprocessors, there is too much processing power out there to just render .gifs and pretty, 3-d GUI widgets.  The PC is capable of being so much more than just a smart terminal.  Process your personal information where it belongs, on your personal computer.

Now I've seen everything dept.

According to this article on Far News, a London insurance company provides alien abduction insurance.  Also, for that next trip to the Himalayas, yeti attack insurance is a must.

Unbelievable.
