Ugh.  Tech TV uses Vignette.  Denote the non-human-readable URL:

"Free" as in liberty, not "no charge"

Watching the interview with RMS on The Screen Savers (via the PVR) is an eye opener.  "Free software is an ethical issue".  He makes some interesting arguments regarding the free software movement.  It's not about not paying for it.  It's about not letting some monolithic company control what happens on your computer.  It's about you controlling what happens on your computer.

The movement now has a song.  Unfortunately, RMS can't carry a tune very well.  That's ok, he can write decent code.

BTW: It's not Linux.  That's the kernel.  The whole system is a combination of GNU and the Linux kernel.  Hence the name GNU+Linux.

When these guys figure out where they're going to focus their efforts, I will know where I want to move in ten years.

Ephemeral and persistent conversation is an interesting mini-discussion of the varying levels of permanence in communications, depending on the medium.
