At California State University Chico AKA Chico State

On Monday, officials at California State University in Chico disclosed that hackers had broken into a housing and food service system containing personal information -- including the names and Social Security numbers -- of about 59,000 current, former and prospective students, faculty and staff.

A statement on the school's Web site said the intruders apparently installed rootkit software on the system for storing music, movie and game files. They also attempted to break into other university computers, the school said.

Today this blog's categories, all the left navigation and the ability to post stories to different pages had a minor glitch, so I may not be able to restore egovernment, art and special posts until tomorrow or the weekend. Clearing up this area may provoke me to buy or borrow a good Radio Userland book.

This blog has stories going back to 2002, in folders, like "intranet', "security", "art" and more, but I'm not as sure how to restore their navigation.

When I created this Radio blog long ago, I mostly edited the Radio Userland template in Dreamweaver, with tools I'm not sure I have on this computer, but I've resolved to rebuild and get more practice with blog writing here. Sstick around and watch the progress of this "reboot".
