The Bridge
Sleepers awake! Come with me to the bridge between heaven and earth. Come to the bridge. The Holy Spirit has an errand there with us. So, come!
Let no unkind feeling pass between us, As we array ourselves in the true order.
Thirteen, the number of unity. Thirteen, the number of love. Thirteen, the number of communion. Thirteen, the greater part of twenty and four. Will twelve couples please step forward to join the circle?
As we make the signs and sound the sounds of that which is outward, We direct all our might, all our hearts, all our minds To that which is inward.
We work with honor and exactness to Gather all truth into the complete whole of understanding. As God is holy, let us then be holy. Holiness unto the Lord!
We greet our brothers with the signs of recognition: Holy are we. Holy is our brother. Holy are the unseen angels. Holy is our God!
One as voice for all, The Voice for God, Speaking the words of God in our hearts. O God, hear your words in our mouth. O God, hear your words in our hearts. O God, hear your words in our minds. And God answers: Amen.
Surely the Spirit of the Lord reigns in our midst And is unrestrained.
(Let light descend to earth.)
And as we gather in His name, Uniting our minds, Uniting our hearts, Uniting our words, And as the Name of Christ is spoken, Lo, even He appears in our midst.
(May Christ return to earth.)
May we be one even as my father and I are one, He says. And as He takes us unto himself, one by one, We reawaken and realize that we are now home, Having never left.
But where are the rest? Not one is home until all are home. So, we leave the bridge and return to serve the world, And in our quiet moments we remember the bridge, And we echo the invitation:
Sleepers awake! Come with me to the bridge between heaven and earth. Come to the bridge. The Holy Spirit has an errand there with us. So, come!
(Let Love, and Light, and Power restore the plan on earth.)
