SBS Fax Server I finally got around to fixing the Fax server. The service was stopped and would not start. I don't use it so I let its repair slip while I worked on more important issues. I removed it and then installed it again. It works fine now. All of my "automatic starting" services should now be working.

More ISA issues I don't know whether my previous ISA installation was gummed up but this firewall version is asking me to authenticate myself to run my virus checking update and java update on the server. Just when I thought I had ISA down pat I get severely humbled with a variety of gotchas. I thought it was happy knowing the IP address.

SharePoint: Adding icons for other document types (like PDF)

"At a high level, all you need to do is get the icon into the templateimages directory, and then map the extension to the icon in templatexmldocicon.xml. Then you reset IIS, and voilà, you have your mapping."

This works! Read the post for more details.

dBforums - SQLAgent is not allowed to run

From dbforums I found this bugfix for the Sqlagent$sharepoint not running problem. It appears to fix the problem.

"Got this from MS Support...

Go to the following reg key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/MICROSOFT SQL SERVER/SHAREPOINT/SQLSERVERAGENT

and delete the 'GUID' line.

SQL Agent will run now."
