Wellstone's Swan Song The fact that Wellstone is gone didn't fully hit me until yesterday. On Friday, I saw the Senators and CNN commentators break down on national television. On Monday, I watched Bill Hillsman's old Wellstone campaign commercials, thinking that we'd lost that Michael Moore-like gonzoism of the race. But on Thursday--driving to work and listening to Nina Simone's mournful Martin Luther King tribute, "Why?"--I heard her sing the line "It's hard to think that this great man is dead."
