Cell phone culture
A new Set of Social Rules for a Newly Wireless Society

An interesting article on the differences between the US and European approaches to selecting wireless systems. (from link from Jane Galt) I use CDMAone from the Japanese carrier AU; a part of KDDI. The main reason I selected it was that it wasn't NTT. I have had so many bad experiences with NTT that I refuse to use the companies products whenever I have a choice.

IPod: Music to Hackers' Ears. Apple's iPod is the hottest digital music player on the market. And thanks to a small army of hackers, it's being transformed into a general-purpose device that makes the Palm seem quaint. By Leander Kahney. [Wired News]
A friend just bought one the other day and was raving about it. He has hooked up to his car stereo system and a speaker system in his house. He loved be able to download the playlists and make up his own groupings. I imagine a couple of the other guys went out and bought one the next day. I think it will be awhile before I will buy one.
