:: Using Bluetooth for VoIP ::
I was wondering if it would be possible to use a Bluetooth headset to wirelessly make voice calls from my PC, say using a SIP client. With limited research I found that the answer was yes. TDK are offering a beta solution plus I found a driver from Atinav.
My next thought was how easy would it be to start my own SIP telephony service and enjoy all the benefits of SIP telephony along with the freedom of Bluetooth. Were I to engage with such a project, then it is useful to note the free SIP server (SIP Express Router) available from Iptel.org who have been running their own SIP service since 2001 that is open to everyone. They have discussed some of their experiences with the product/project, available as a presentation on the web, which has some interesting pointers for traversing a NAT/firewall, though I have not yet got around to trying any of this myself.
What I have to find next is a decent PSTN gateway.....
Very exciting stuff!
