:: WAP = Woefully Arcane Prattling ? ::
With respect to the BBC online article about the increased “success” of WAP.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3161108.stm
WAP is not an application, nor is it a service. To talk of “downloading WAP pages” is meaningless and typical of the gibberish that now pervades this industry. Can we say anything about the success of the new Mini Cooper based on the number of litres of petrol sold on the UK forecourts?
Philosophers warn of our inability to debate when we fail to define our terms. In an industry that insists on proliferating new terms (acronyms), almost as its main output, no wonder the quality of discourse has gravitated to nonsensical measures (e.g. “WAP impressions”) and debates (e.g. “WiFi versus 3G”).
