MySQL Nabs Venture Capital MySQL AB, the open source database software provider, gained a $20M investment from Benchmark Capital. MySQL is often used as a primary example of how open source can be a component of a real business model. May be a harbringer of things to come, but their case is unique in that the core product is a commodity and they have achieved massive penetration.
