Our Story Continues...

Geo walked along the bank of the river, crossed at a convenient spot, and hiked up the other side of the valley.  About two-thirds of the way to the ridge, he found the large, flat granite outcropping on which he frequently liked to sit and meditate, looking down at the river far below.  He sat down.  Taking several deep breaths, he tried to gather his concentration.   He knew that the Knower of the Forest would come and speak to him today. He hoped so, anyway…he needed her help desperately, and that is what she was supposedly there for…but then sometimes he was meant to work it out on his own…sometimes.  Was this one of those times?

His confidence was beginning to take a nosedive.

He looked up toward the sky and yelled “Shiara! Help me! Please!”

He waited, unable to meditate.

When the sunlight cast its rays on the opposite side of the valley, he heard her voice behind him. “Well,” she said, “That was a vote of confidence.  Did you think I would leave you out on your own?”

“You do, sometimes, you know that.”

“Not when you are messing up this badly,” she said.

“Gee thanks.”

“’Recapture’ her heart?  ‘Make her fall in love with you again’?  You forget, I hear it all, Geo.  It’s a downside to the job… it gets…oy…” Shiara rubbed her temples.

“Stop it, now.  Help me.  She’s come back.  She’s here.  In my lodge…probably taking a bath right now…in my tub…with my soap…my towels…brushing her hair…<sigh>”

“Now you stop it.  You’re going to have to do better than this.”

“Sorry,” he said “what should I do?”

“She’s in bad condition.” Shiara looked him up and down. “You’re both in bad condition.  I don’t think you’re ready for this, Geo, from the way that you have been behaving.  I think I am going to ask my superiors that this little episode be aborted…

“No!  No, no!” Geo cried.  “I want her here.”

“Even if you can never ‘capture her?’

“Yes.”

“Because I assure you, you won’t.  You won’t capture her heart, or make her yours ever again…”

Geo groaned.

“But you can share in something much better, something much more exciting.  I’m not saying you will, but the possibility is there.”

“I don’t want to lie to her. How much of the obvious do I avoid?”

“It won’t be hard once your heart isn’t set on ‘winning’ her like some sort of trophy.

“But, what about our names?”

“As far as her name goes… I will do this:  I will erase her memory of her married name.  She will introduce herself to you as Renny Gudreau.  And you will remain Georges Fresnell.  After all, that’s what everybody knows you by.  She has forgotten a lot of stuff, Geo. Things you are assuming she remembers.  Bear that in mind.  She doesn't remember the cologne you have in your drawer.  Give it to her...sometime.  She will love it as much as the first time you gave it to her.

“Don't second guess every little thing you do.  Just be yourself the way you always were.  And let her go. That's the most important thing.  Just open your heart, and let go.  This might help.”  She touched his chest, and a big bright ball of energy appeared.  She released it and it went upward like a balloon until they could no longer see it. Geo felt lighter, as if it might be possible to do as Shiara asked.

“And one more thing…” She said. “Listen to me!  When you wake up, go straight back to her.  She needs your help.”

“Huh?” Said Geo.

Shiara stood behind him and stretched her finger down to the top of his head.  A bolt of blue lightening jolted across the gap.  She caught him as he fell, easing him to a lying position on the flat rock.
