Child's play
Geo opened his eyes. His nose was still buried in the soft fur at the back of Pigmet’s neck. He could feel the satin lining of the little pig's robe brushing against his upper lip. Geo wondered if he was awake, or if this was just another dream. But everything was gray, like the planet he remembered before. If he was awake, where did Pigmet come from? He did not remember Pigmet being here at all.
He was so confused!
He gave Pigmet another little squeeze. He seemed real. “Pigmet!” He said. “Hey buddy! Are you really real? How did you get here? Where have you been? And what is with the little black robe?”
“Boy that sure is a lot of questions for one small pig, Geo."
"G-O, G-O.
G-O G-O G-O!”
Pigmet was playing a game they had played somewhere before.
"G-O, G-O
G-O G-O G-O!"
As Geo squeezed him, and started to tickle him, he realized that Pigmet was not a baby pig anymore. In fact, one might call him an "over-the-hill" piglike creature. Geo stopped his game, and found himself rather embarrassed. He felt a sense of loss, as he realized that Pigmet was no longer a child.
Reading the very thoughts in Geo's mind, Pigmet put his arm around his friend.
"Geo?" he said,
"Yes?" answered Geo.
" I will always be a child."
