So I was driving home last night listening to some old tapes of mine from 1982-1983. Did anyone notice that when JMJ was killed last week (may he rest in peace) all the news and interviews that said how they were the first to blend rock and rap and open the doors for the Chocolate Starfish and his ilk... Okay so they were the godfathers of it, big fucking mad props to that...But that was 1985 BUT I ran across this tape of the Part Time Chrisitans who were fusing punk guitar and base riffs with drum machines and rap lyrics in 1982... Then of course there was the Vandals and Lady Killer... Not to take anything away from Run DMC and JMJ, for they are the gods in my mind, but I was a bit miffed that the people who first got the urge are lost, only to be found in musty tapes you discover in the bottom on a box in the attic... But I tell you what, PTC's "Bolling Pin Massacre" fucking rocks! 6:17:38 AM    comment []
