Far Side of a Chilling Moon
Walk down the corridors of any science department and you are virtually guaranteed to find a Gary Larson's Far Side cartoon or two stuck on most doors. It was common practice for my biochemistry professor to begin his class with a overhead projection of a Far Side cartoon to set the stage for the day's lecture. I recall a slide of snakes getting knotted up as they played Twister was used to introduce the day's topic of the tertiary structure of hemoglobin. Fast forward 10 or so years and nothing has changed: I'm currently taking a Microbiology class and my professor has a couple Far Sides in his online course pages.
I mention this because I found this letter to Google from the lawyers of Gary Larson requesting that the record of a website containing Far Side cartoons be removed. The website that hosts this letter is called chillingeffects and it provides endnotes that explain the copyright laws being invoked in the letter.
I found the chilling effects link from the Deuce of Clubs who found those who tracked the Olsen Twin Tracker.
