Blogapalooza
I better start updating my blog. Otherwise I'm going to lose all credibility by the time I have to speak at the OLA Superconference on February 1, 2003:
Session: 906 8:45 am - 10:00 am Blogapalooza: The Social Life of Blogs Mita Sen-Roy, Librarian, University of Windsor.
Blogs (otherwise known as weblogs) are websites of links and commentary that have somehow transformed into active online communities. This session touches on the history and current state of blogs, but primarily focuses on what libraries can learn from these communities. Bloggers and librarians share many common interests and blogs that can be employed by librarians to share and show-off their skills and their library's resources to a wider on-line audience. See how "emergent" information is currently being harvested from hundreds of blogs and speculate on how libraries could similarly use such technology. Learn how blogs have turned "ideas into epidemics", measure their current influence on journalism and see how they are used in consumer and political activism. It's a blog's life. Convenor: Daniel F. Phelan, Ryerson University Library
