so i have been thinking a lot about this past year as it's quickly coming to a close.  so quickly in fact, that its making my head spin and i can't really believe it.  every time the year nears its end i think of one of my favorite teachers of all time, my creative writing teacher sophomore year, ron carlson.  he's an author of short stories.  if you run a search for him you'll find two, he's not the religious one.  anyway, ron said "how you spend your new year's eve and ring in the new year, is pretty indicative of how your new year will be, so make it good." 

which got me thinking about how i rang in 2003, and its nothing like it turned out to be.  this year has been full of change.  i used to not like change at all but 2003 forced me to like it.  anyway, this year was more of an "out with the old, in with the new" sort of year.  the year started with my best friend of 7 years, that friendship ended, and now i have a new best friend.  it started with a boyfriend of 3 1/2 years, that relationship ended, and now i have a new bf that i love more than i thought i was capable of.  the year started out with a job i hated at a company i hated, that ended, and now i am at a company that i love with an easy job.  my family has had a lot of changes as well, with new jobs, moving, relationships, etc.  i wonder if it was like that for everyone, not just me and my family.  ooo i also got to travel a lot this year, which i didn't think was going to happen, especially after the whole job thing.  but by the time this year is done, i'll have been to austin 5 times, vegas 3 times, new orleans once, and chicago/indiana once, oh and various places here in az.  i did intend to make it out to california this year, but that never happened and i dont know how welcome i am out there anymore.  :( 

so thinking ahead to 2004, i think it is shaping up to be just as dynamic as 2003 has been.  i am supposed to end up living with the bf, i might move (out of state) - if i do it'll be in august, i am shooting for a promotion and i'm in a fairly good position to get it should something open up, i might get a stepdad, maybe a new dog...  only time will tell for sure, but it all sounds positive :D

has everyone else had an interesting 2003?  good/bad?  i have a feeling its been like this for everyone, not just me.  anyway, here's to a good year!
