Scoble Thinks Steve Jobs Is Out Of Touch

Robert Scoble thinks that Steve Jobs is missing the boat by not being interested in a video iPod. That may be so, but I believe his logic leaves something to be desired:

I totally agree with Michael that Steve [Jobs] is missing yet another potential market (the Tablet PC being the other obvious one).

This is what happens when execs have a billion dollars and forget to visit Walmart to see how the rest of us deal with life. I'm sure that Steve's $40+ million private jet has large screens, but those of us who fly coach often sure would love a nice "video iPod."

So is Bill Gates more in touch with what the common man wants? I don't think so. Plus, I can't imagine watching a movie like "Out of Africa" on a tiny screen on an iPod, or even a laptop's screen for that matter. And as far as Tablet PC's go, I don't see any rush on the part of consumers or businesses to embrace this technology. It seems like an inadequate compromise between a laptop and a Pocket PC. I just don't see myself abandoning my PowerBook for a Tablet, even an Apple one.

Speaking of Apple, why not go and congratulate Gnome-Girl on her new iMac.
