Ever since it was released I've been using Safari as my default web browser on my PowerBook. It's faster than any of the browsers I've used on my WinTel machine at home, including Opera and Mozilla. It also blocks popups, one of the reasons why I prefer Mozilla 1.3 over Internet Explorer 6.0 on my home machine. Well, out of curiousity I downloaded and installed Camino 0.7 (formerly Chimera 0.7) on my PowerBook. I've been alternating between both browsers and they both seem to be equally fast. Other than their UI the only real difference I can see is the way they render web pages. Some pages that don't seem to render well on Safari come up fine on Camino and vice versa. I've noticed that Camino has problems with the same pages that Mozilla does, which is not surprising given their common heritage. The next release of Safari should be interesting.
