In my "research" tonight I've come across several interesting sites on the "art" of dumpster diving. Apparently, dumpster diving is the active search for interesting stuff that others have thrown away. Not only do dumpster divers pick up stuff from the curbside, but as the name implies, they dive into dumpsters at apartment complexes and behind shopping centers.

According to these sites dumpster diving can be profitable, especially in areas where aluminum cans have return deposits. In any event, items found can be sold at rummage sales, given as gifts, pawned, or even sold for scrap. I can see it now:

  1. Dumpster dive,
  2. ?????????????
  3. Profit.

I've been looking for a hobby to make me a more well-rounded individual. I don't think this will be it.
