What Was Once a Good Living
Being a pilot as a career was decimated by Sept. 11th and the dificulty in manging a cash based business with cuthroat competition. Remember, when you think about the war, some radical assholes didn't just drop some buildings and kill 4000 people, they chose to steal the wealth of America through terror and disrupting our freedom and rights. Iraq and many Arab states contribute very little to the world except that they sit on Oil reserves that empowers them economically. Dogmatic religious beliefs are a joke.
BRIEFLY: American will fire pilots, reduce pay. Approximately 2,500 of American's Airline's 12,000 active pilots will lose their jobs over the next year as part of the union's $660 million in annual concessions to save the company from bankruptcy, union officials said Tuesday. As part of the agreement reached with the airline Monday, pilots' salaries will be slashed 23 percent in the first year, beginning May 1, and 17 percent each subsequent year of the six-year pact. The pilots have 14 days to ratify the new contract. Meanwhile, American's parent, Fort Worth-based AMR Corp., asked the Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday for more time to file its 2002 annual report. [Business]
