we had our BEK company christmas party tonight at the sheraton waikiki.

it ended with a whimper as the hotel cut off serving us alchohol at 9:45 (the party started at 6:00). the explanation was that we had polished off 12 cases of heineken and that was too much for the number of people at the party.

since there were app. 200 people at the party, a little math tells us this: 200 people - app. 30 children = 170 people; 170 people - app. 45% women (assuming no women were drinking heinekens  = 94 men; 94 men / 50% (say 1/2 the guys were drinking heinekens) = 47 people left drinking heinekens; 288/47  = 6.1 heinekens each over a four hour time frame. a lot of these guys are pretty big boys and a lot were staying at the hotel for the night also. for the hotel to cut off the entire christmas party because of 12 cases of heineken being drunk seems excessive.  no amount of arguing could change their minds.

i'll be writing the hotel a letter of complaint come monday.
