in keeping with the automotive theme below, i have some tips from a automotive repair shop owner (he also has a radio show here in honolulu once a week) that we had as our speaker at the monthly drywall association meeting tonight.

1)

always use synthetic oil (royal purple or synergen are best). results are smoother ride, better gas mileage and longer intervals between oil changes (15,000 to 20,000 miles vs 3,000 with regular motor oil).

2) trash your present sparkplugs and use autolite racing sparkplugs, for the best spark on the market.

3) use a high, 1000 amp, sealed battery, like optima, or orbital, not diehards! (diehards are low amp, usually 300).

4) for better gas mileage, put 5 mothballs (make sure they are the ones that contain naphthlalene) per gallon of gas in your tank (be careful as naphthlalene is a toxic substance). this one sounds kind of screwy, but the guy swears that it works and you'll notice the improvement in gas mileage right away. you can also add one ounce of liquid wd40 per gallon to help mileage (either in conjunction with the mothballs or by itself).

use these tips at your own risk, although the auto guy swore by all of them (especially the synthetic oil).

my air conditioning in my '98 dodge intrepid quit on me a couple of days ago and i took the car in for service.
today my service guy called and said that the evaporator coil had ruptured and the price for a new one was $1,200. before i could start yelling he said that he was going to contact dodge and see if they could do anything for me, especially since i'm the original owner. he called back later and said that dodge was going to pick up $1,000 and i just needed to pay $200!!! joy of joys!!! he said that dodge almost never helps people out when the car is out of warranty and that today was my lucky day, and that maybe i should go to vegas! so anyway now i'm looking for another ticket as soon as possible! (kidding).
