i caused some consternation in comp usa tonight while i was doing a little window shopping.

I was browsing at the pda section and a guy looking at a palm tungsten t asked one of the sales reps if he could view photos on it. the rep said no, this is what you want, and proceeded to pitch a viewsonic pocket pc that cost the same price. he told the guy that the pocket pc could synch with ms office which palm could not,  that the pocket pc could store photos and the palm could not and that because the operating system was by microsoft it was better than palm. welllllllll, that was just a little too much for me, so i butted into their conversation and started to argue every point that the rep had made. what really made him squirm was when i pulled out my clie and opened up an article by walt mossberg a couple weeks ago titled "office documents look better on palms than on pocket pcs" , (a story about documents to go, which i also had on my palm and showed). anyway i ended up showing off what my clie could do to the crowd that had gathered around (okay, so it was four people :). i was getting so excited talking about it, that it made me want to buy a newer model! so the guy ended up buying the palm (which really was a better deal; right now it came with a folding keyboard for free plus you could mail in for a free secure digital card / digital camera). i ended up with nothing beacause the were out of yellow cartridges for my canon printer. i'll have to try office depot tomorrow.

(full disclosure; i don't really have anything against pocket pcs, i think that they are great! i just didn't like the fact that the rep was flat out lying about the palm!)
