A column on free e-mail providers from Walt Mossberg. If your'e using MSN, it doesn't hurt to sign up for Yahoo! also, as a back up (or maybe you'll like the extra storage and use it as the primary). The extra address and storage could come in handy (their instant messenger is pretty good too!).

More on the great and mighty Google (it's a calculator! it's a temperature converter! it's a phone book! it's everything!! Google IS God!!) from Andy Tobias. Here and Here. By the way, if anyone is ever led to the New York Times via any links, take the time to sign up. It's by far the best paper on the web (plus it's free :)
This bus strike is causing a lot of traffic. I had to go into town this afternoon and it was already a traffic jamb by the time I left at 3:00. Things seem to be pretty orderly though, and it sure is nice having those damn buses off the road. They CAUSE half of the traffic problems around here. They are saying that they are prepared to strike for over three months? Hell, I hope they never get back to work. Maybe this will get people thinking about the fixed rail that we passed up ten years ago (IDIOTS, where is a better place for a fixed rail line than on an Island??). If I was the company negotiator, I'd just turn my back on them and see how their solidarity is after 3 or 4 months, then offer them their jobs back with a pay and benefits CUT. Screw em.
