Inspired by the Extreme Makeover show, I had my own mini makeover this weekend. I got a tooth whitening and a haircut :) I got the teeth whitened mainly because I had just been to the dentist last week for my 6 month checkup and cleaning, and since they were newly cleaned, I decided it was as good a time as any to go on up to BriteSmile for a Whitening. My goal was to match the whiteness of the crown (upper right lateral) that is next to my front teeth. My teeth were mainly stained by tobacco (Skoal, now a dead habit) and coffee and soft drinks. Not too bad, but bad enough to be noticable compared to my crown. The BriteSmile process is pretty simple. You go and check in and fill out the medical forms. Then they take you to the back and begin the process. First the Dentist checks your teeth against a control set and you then check his choice with a mirror. If you agree, they take a 'Before' picture and then you start the whitening. They stick a bit in your mouth (I don't know how else to describe it) to keep your teeth exposed, then they apply the whitening product, aim a heat lamp at your teeth and leave. You do three sets of this at 20 minutes each and you're done. While you're sitting in the chair, you get to watch television on a personal screen that's on an arm hanging from the ceiling. They give you the remote and leave you alone. When it's over they take an 'After' picture, and then try to shill some of their personal products on you. You are not allowed anything dark (drinks or food, they give you a list of what you can have) for 24 hours afterward. All in all I'm very satisfied. My real teeth are hard to tell from the crown now, and it looks like I've never had a drink of coffee in my life. If anybody is looking for an opinion on this service, I highly recommend it! As for the haircut, well, I get one every three weeks anyway :)
Ahhh. Chris has decided to keep Sideblog going after all. I'll probably go to the premium Sideblog, sometime in the near future.
