It may just be me (although I doubt it), but playing craps or blackjack in the Detroit area casinos just feels like a joyless / soulless experience. I've been to the MGM twice now and have yet to hear anyone clap or cheer or yell or offer good tidings of joy (just slipping a Christmas expression in there :) It's just a radically different experience from being in Las Vegas. I would attribute it to a lot of local gamblers, but there are a lot of local casinos in Vegas without these grump-asses in them. It must have something to do with the poor sleep everyone around here gets (see two posts ago) or maybe the high crime rate and declining city population (soon to be overtaken by San Jose, CA as the 10th largest city in the U.S.). Soon there maybe only 10 people in Detroit and 5 of them will be robbing the other 5 for a 100% crime rate! Just kidding (kind of), but why is it people seem to be happy on their way in to the casino, But as soon as they set foot inside, the good feelings seem to disappear (before even playing!). I just don't know. I guess I'll have to try one of the other casinos to see if it's just an MGM problem or more widespread.
