Looks like Chris is getting ready to wind down Sideblog. It's a shame, just for the fact that he seemed to put a lot of work into it. It's a great little app, and I've tried to be supportive of it, but I can understand his frustration with trying to develop it and keep it going. I wish him the best of luck in finding someone to take it over. Plus thanks for developing it in the first place.

From Gizmodo (& many other sites): Aluminum Beer Bottles. How can it be a bottle when it's a can? Just because it's shaped like a bottle doesn't make it a bottle? Does it?
Looks like the poll results are coming out overwhelmingly in favor of Track & Field as favorite Olympic sport(s). I know that they are my personal favorites, but I like watching all the sports, especially the esoteric ones that you only see every 4 years (Handball or Modern Pentathlon any one?). I'm watching Springboard Diving right now, and it reminds me of a little known episode from my past (I even forget about it!). When I was coaching High School Wrestling (over 20 years ago!), I was called upon to take one of the school divers to the regional finals. His coach had a family emergency and they needed a School District Coach to represent him. So I went for the two days and actually had a great time. It was much more exciting than watching a wrestling tournament and everyone was friendly and supportive. I couldn't offer much in the way of help of course (since at the time I didn't even know how to swim!) but I did offer encouragement and tried to learn about what my duties were and how to implement them. He didn't qualify for the State tournament, but the diver and his family thanked me for escorting him and it was a good learning experience for me also at the time. So, I'm reminded of it every 4 years when I watch the Olympics. Pretty cool!
