Plenty of Bowls coming up this week. Don't forget to check the SideBlog for my picks!
Call them thumb drives, call them keychain drives, call them usb drives. Whatever you call them, call them a must have. I got my first one (DiskOnKey brand) over 4 years ago (and paid a pretty price for it at the time, like any new technology) and have gotten great mileage out of it. I keep PDF stories and user manuals on it, photos, files to transfer from work to home and vice versa, install files for downloaded programs and many, many other things (I'm putting Pass2Go on it also, see my last post). One of the great things to use them for at Christmas time, is to borrow someone else's digital camera card and transfer their photos onto the thumb drive (just borrow the computer at whatever house you're at). The great thing about this, is that you are able to get some photos of yourself, since you are rarely in any of the photos from your own digital camera. Besides using them just for storage or data transfer, check out these specialized thumb drives also: 1) Migo, make any computer your own. 2) Stealth Surfer, portable, private surfing. 3) Creative Nomad Muvo, MP3 player and more (I have one of these and use it more than I use my i-Pod). 4) Phillips GoGear, digital camera and more. 5) Corsair, rubber coated for shock and water resistance. I'm sure that there are many more specialized drives out there, but you get the general idea. I've seen them priced lately at less than $20 for 128MB (and sometimes free at Comp USA after rebate) , so there's no reason not to have one clipped to your keychain :)
