From the jkOnTheRun blog, comes his take on the the True Launch Bar. It's a cool looking app that looks to be highly functional. I'll be downloading it as soon as I get my New computer hooked up.
Due to various hardware and software glitches I've been having on my desktop computer, I went out and bought a new one (Merry Christmas to Me!) and will be hooking it up over the next few days. The old one is a workhorse, and I've had it for almost 3 years now (a lifetime for me in technology terms). I haven't decided what to do with it once I get everything transferred over to the new one, but I'll be wiping it clean and reformatting it from scratch, and then using it for some higher purpose (maybe some kind of spam server :). For my new one, I ended up going with another Sony, this time running Windows MCE 2005. I'll be following this setup guide in PC Magazine and also using alohabob PC Relocator to transfer programs (those that I can transfer) and files. My first steps will be to get my Microsoft Office setup (Word, Excel, Outlook), and then my Internet connection hooked up (Firefox Browser for 95% of my browsing time online, Try it yourself for a week) and then get My Radio Userland transferred over. I've heard horror stories about migrating to a new computer with the Radio software, but if I go step by step through their documentation, I've hoping for an error free turnover :) If I end up not blogging for a week or two, you'll know that something went wrong (or else I decided to go to Vegas for a quick trip :) After those things are done, comes the fun and games, picking and choosing what to transfer and what to toss out. I'll take my time and work on less than an hour each night. I' should be done by New Years Eve, if everything works out!
