The Vegas trip was up and down but this is the worst beat I had: I was at the Venetian playing blackjack and wanted to get back to the Stardust to get some sleep (it was about 4:00am). So I decided to leave and got decided to bet everything ($1000) I had left. I put one $500 chip on two spots (I was the only one at the table) and got dealt a 6-4 on the first spot and two 6's on the second spot. Dealer had a 6 up. So I got the pit boss to mark up the first bet and I doubled down and got a 6 for 16 total. On the second hand I split the 6's and got a 5 on the first hand for a 11. I doubled down and got a 5 for a 16 total. On the second hand I got a 3 for a 9 total and doubled down again and got a 7 for another 16. So my totals are 3 hands of 16 at $1000 a hand (with $2,000 of it marked up by the pit boss). The dealer flipped over his hole card and it was a face card for a 16 total. He puled the next card out of the shoe and............ it was a freakin' Ace for a 17 total! Arghhhhhhh! Perfect play doesn't always equal perfect results. I signed the markers for the $2K and walked back to the Stardust for an omelet.

Wow! 10 days since my last post. What's new? Not too much. It's still raining here and the Governor has declared a disaster and called out the National Guard for flood cleanup. Another weather system is on it's way and it look's like more of the same to come. My trip to Vegas went good (not good money) although I probably had too much to eat. It's hard to pass up oysters and escargot and steak and lobster on a daily basis :) I'm not sure if that will be my last trip to the Stardust or not as they haven't given a final closing date as of yet. Time will tell.
