I know that I won't be able to resist one of these new UMPC type computers for very long (yes, my name is Kevin and I have a computer addiction :) It's what I've wanted for a long time, a small computer, running the full Windows operating system (XP Tablet edition), that can access the internet. It's not quite small enough to fit in a pocket but it's plenty small enough to fit into any kind of bag that you carry around. Here are some views of the earliest models coming out.

Update: The blog Random Elements has a listing of some UMPC websites. The Allegiance Technology site has the first UMPC (here's a good review of it) that I've seen for sale with a price (an estimated price at that) attached: $899. I've read price ranges from $500 to $1400 so it looks like it's all going to be based on manufacturer and configuration, just like any pc. From early news it looks like everyone and their brother is going to be making these things, including companies that I've never heard of before.
I saw this post about Desktop Earth 2.0 wallpaper on Lifehacker and gave it a try. I've got to say, stretched over two monitors, this is the nicest looking computer wallpaper I've seen in a long time! Very cool!
