I was out playing golf yesterday morning over on the Waianae Coast at Makaha Valley Country Club. We finished up around 12:15 and instead of sticking around for lunch I decided to head on home. Anyway I got home and was working away on the computer at around 3:30 when I got a phone call from my golfing buddy. He said, "Where are you right now"? I said, "Sitting here at home. Why, what's up"? He said, " I was just checking up that you didn't get crushed by one of the falling telephone poles". WTF? Falling telephone polls? It turns out that a large gust of wind sheared 13 telephone poles across Farrington Highway, crushing cars and blocking traffic for hours and hours. I must have gotten past them just about 10-15 minutes before it happened! And, if I had stayed for lunch, I wouldn't have gotten home until after 4:30! Yikes! There were a couple of big wind gusts on the golf course but nothing that would knock down a telphone pole. Strange and wild stuff. By the way, in case you were wondering how my golfing round went, let's just say that I parred 2 out of the last 3 holes and leave it at that :)
